All the major Fallsview hotels have restaurants with a view but two in particular are at the top of the list. The Watermark restaurant at the Hilton Fallsview is spectacular with an equal view of both the American and Canadian Falls. The Keg restaurant at the Embassy Suites is much closer to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls and is very impressive as well. Stay in a Fallsview Hotel. The hotel which we think has the best view is the Embassy Suites Fallsview hotel. In no particular order the Marriott Fallsview is more upscale. The Hilton offers the best view of both Falls. It is worth every penny. It was part of the wonder pass so it was a better deal. It was cool but not that cool. Basically a wrapper around cinema that you stand on a moving platform that tries to make you feel like you're flying over the falls a little with a lot of water effects to simulate the falls nothing special to me though.
It was neat but that's it. Got the wonder pass so this was included. Wonder pass on the other hand is soo worth it. What a delightful experience this was! First of all, it was a bit different than what we had in mind based on the description of the attraction, so here's what to expect: Once you are in the building, you can go off from the main gift shop into a few directions, including the theater where the event takes place.
The website does a poor job of indicating this, but the event starts with a roughly 10 minute cartoon, a'la Ice Age, following a cute beaver writing an essay on the falls. The animation follows the creation of the falls, and then the doors open to enter the 4-D experience. The 4-D experience was wonderful, but consider that my wife and I are the types to throw ourselves into the spirit of the thing.
If you aren't willing to suspend disbelief, or have a problem that you're holding railings and surrounded by theatrical lights, then this isn't for you. It presents a glacier landscape, then melting, storms, and then the present day experience of the falls close up. The visuals do not contain a time-lapse of the terrain eroding away, as the cinematics found in "The Time Machine" do, but it certainly is a thrill.
The experience is coupled with a powerful musical score, and you do get to keep your poncho. My friends and I went up to Niagara falls for Spring break and we bought the wego attractions pass which allowed us to do this. You first go into a screening room where they play a little animated history on how the falls were created. Keep in mind the video is suited more towards the children.
